Paul Wood is a sought-after charismatic vocalist who has worked with many prestigious bands including Kenny Ball, The Glenn Miller Memorial Orchestra and the BBC Big Band. Paul has performed at major London venues alongside artists such as The Batchelors and Barbara Windsor, and has toured in Europe & North America. Accompanying him will be Ron Bowater - a seasoned and acclaimed pianist, and bassist David Silk who has been running and hosting an exciting array of unique jazz-based events (including this one!) for more years than he cares to admit to.

For well over 40 years bass player David Silk has been running and hosting an exciting array of unique jazz-based events with a wide and varied roster of musicians and artists, and is now running a series of monthly Jazz Concerts at The Mermaid Inn. This months’ special guest will be London-based woodwind supremo Bob McKay who plays soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxes, piccolo, flute, alto flute, clarinet and bass clarinet! This versatile musician is much in demand on the London session, theatre and jazz music scenes. Accompanying Bob will be pianist Roger Lewin who performs regularly in many of London’s finest hotels including The Savoy, Claridges, The Dorchester and The Waldorf Hilton. Completing the line-up are David Silk on double bass and vocalist Jacci Norris. He was also a Musical Director for many years for the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company. He will be joined by Derek Nash, Roger Lewin (piano) and Jacci Norris (voc) for a night of great music and improvisation.

In 2017 David Silk and his many friends will be at The Mermaid on the final Thursday of each month to share their love and excitement of Jazz. Special guests Sarah Bolter and Karl Charity join the regulars of Roger Lewin (piano), Dave Silk (bass), and Jacci Norris (vocals), for the Jazz Supper Night at The Mermaid. Sarah (sax, flute) has worked with many well-known singers such as Tina May and Louise Clare Marshall (Jools Holland Band), and has performed at prestigious venues including the IOW Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Pizza Express London, and played in the pit of many West End Musicals. Karl (trumpet, vocals) began his music career performing in pit bands, andin 2013 appeared in the West End show ‘Soul Sister’ at The Savoy Theatre. He, too, has performed at many well-known jazz venues and festivals including The Pheasantry and Jazz After Dark. Multi-instrumentalist Paul Higgs will be performing his ‘Brief History of Jazz’
on trumpet and flugel, accompanied by Roger Lewin on piano, Jacci Norris on vocals, and Dave Silk on contra-cello. Veteran and revered saxophone supremo Duncan Lamont will be making a special guest appearance guaranteeing both a classic jazz performance and engaging anecdotes.
Tickets are £25 including a special 2-course jazz supper menu, or £10 for music only (music starts at 8pm).
