The Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Hastings Musical Festival*. The festival runs from the 4th March to the 23rd March 2013 and Piano Week runs from the 11th March with the Piano Concerto Final on Saturday 16th March.

Piano Week is a new addition to the festival for 2013 and will include First Stage Preliminary Concerto performances, Second Stage Recitals Semi-Final, Master Class for semi-finalists at the new Recital Room at Fairlight Hall and of course the Final on the 16th March, where this year, the three finalists of the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition play their chosen concerti with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

This year we have more entries than ever before for the Concerto Competition from all over the world and the class of competitor is astounding. These young (16-30 year old) virtuoso pianists are the concert pianists of the future and the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition provides them with a fantastic platform for their talent to be heard and the opportunity to play with an internationally recognised orchestra.

We rely wholly on generous sponsors and donors and as such, this year we are seeking support from the business community in the South East to help safeguard this competition, which attracts tourists, classical music fans, piano lovers as well as the international competitors and their families into the area.

Tickets are on sale now for the glittering Final with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra on the 16th March at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings www.whiterocktheatre.org.uk - Only £10/£12 or £15 and Under 16's can attend free with a paying adult, (but please still reserve their seat) as we would like to give them the chance to experience this level of young aspirational talent!

*The Hastings Musical Festival of which the Concerto Competition plays a starring part, is lucky enough to have Petula Clark CBE as its President and is an annual competitive festival which has been running since 1908. Held at the White Rock Theatre in Hastings it includes four main areas of entry: singing, instrumental, dancing and speech and drama. The festival is a registered charity and is run by a host of very committed volunteers and relies on sponsorship, donations and ticket sales to survive.
